H: 110 cm - L: 95 cm
Born on April 4, 1971, in Côte d'Ivoire, Pascal Nampémanla Traoré holds a Diploma in Communication and Graphic Art from the École Nationale supérieure des Beaux-arts d'Abidjan. He lives and works in Dakar. After spending about ten years in an advertising agency as artistic director, he decided to devote himself entirely to his art.
Create to renew yourself better. Pascal Nampémanla Traoré, takes pleasure in painting, photographing and filming characters born of his imagination but also from his daily life, his readings and his inspiring research. His style and practice evolve over the years and are guided by new techniques that he constantly explores. However, one theme always comes up again in his creations: the human in the face of changes in the world. The series of works he undertakes are the result of research, an exploration of the world and the people around him.
Pascal Nampémanla Traoré has participated in several group and solo exhibitions: Official selection of the Dakar Biennale (2006), Exhibitions at the various editions of the Dakar Biennale (2004 to 2018), Rotonde des arts Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire (2016), La Cloche des fourmis, Biennale de Dakar, Senegal (2018), Lettre de Loin, réponse de l'intérieur, PARTCOUR édition 7, Dakar, Senegal (2019). For several years now, he has been one of the active members of the Agit'Art Laboratory, of which he is one of the artistic directors.

Michael Soi (Kenya, né 1972)
Acrylic paint and beer bottle labels glued on canvas
Haut. : 120 cm - Larg. : 120 cm
Michael Soi paints brightly colored portraits of Kenyans that are laced with political satire. After graduating in 1995 from the Creative Arts Center in Nairobi, Soi began using his artwork to comment on local and international politics with an incisive eye and a cartoonist's touch. Many of his paintings criticize China’s influence on Kenya; his series “China Loves Africa” (2015–2021), a suite of 100 works that epitomizes his vibrant style, features figures outlined in black. Soi rose to prominence in 2015 for his series “Shame in Venice,” which called out the lack of Kenyan artists participating in the Kenyan pavilion at the Venice Biennale. He has used his art to satirize issues from government corruption to the stigmatization of sex workers.

"Masque"
By Mauro Pétroni
Glazed terracotta.
H: 44 cm - L: 16 cm
Mauro Petroni, born in Lucca, Italy, has been living in Dakar since 1983.He is the founder of the ceramics studio “Céramiques Almadies.”
Thanks to him this space has become a center of creation and interest in the field of visual arts. Without ever parting away from the workshop craftsmanship, he made many ceramic decorations in Dakar for architecture.
More than a hundred important works are visible in Dakar but also elsewhere in Senegal and in Europe. Walls, fountains, benches, swimming pools, signs, churches, schools, public spaces or private gardens. Its major reference remains the reconstruction (after a fire) of the old Kermel market in Dakar: all the ceramics that decorate the three portals of the market were made identically by the workshop (1995). In 2008, as part of the work for the new cornice, Petroni created a monument on a roundabout.
At the same time he pursued a more personal research on the object. His work is characterized by very simple manual techniques that take into account traditional resources, united without complex with more contemporary solutions.
Italian roots and African influences give a mixed-race suggestion to his pieces. He thus recognizes himself in the spirit of Dakar, a border town with multiple influences, the expression of an Africa of contrasts and mixtures of cultures.
The workshop has become under his leadership a place of exhibition of contemporary artists from Senegal but also elsewhere.
Very involved in the support of contemporary art in Senegal, since 2002 he has been part of the Steering Committee of the Dakar Biennale (we owe him the idea and the realization of the "guides" of the Dakart Off), and he is one of the resource people in the artistic community.
